How do you afford your games?

It may seem like a dumb question, but how do you personally afford your games? I make $500 a month. I live with my grandparents and pay no bills, so it seems like it would be easy for me. You'd be wrong. A good $200 of that goes to food. I'm trying to pay off a $3,800 truck, and when I finally get that I'll have to pay for gas. Before, the only thing I had to put any gas in was my ATV, which is surprisingly fuel efficient. I find myself having to cut back more and more and look for deals constantly. ebay is my friend, and a lot of my games are bought way after their release now. I have Skyward Sword's special edition on reserve. I plan to made it the last game I buy new on launch day for quite some time. Everything else I buy will be pre owned and probably a year or two old.

How do you do it?

Mostly out of my own pocket. I do odd jobs here & there like roofing or easy painting/decorating while i wait to go back into service.
Like you i find it harder and harder to buy new releases i recently had to pay off my insurance and road tax on my car so i turn to ebay or bargin bins, which actually have their advantages theres alot of gems to be found in the non-mainstream world.

I miss being a child and spending my parents disposable income

What bugs me though is i have a friend whos 24 & still living with his parents. He has no job, not going to School/College/University. His parents just bought him the new Gears 3 LE Xbox, Gears 3, Dead island and Deus ex. Hes quite happy with his life and can't see a downside.

I don't know why, but it annoys me to see him so happy about living off his parents ass at 24 when we're out there working our tails off.

Last game I bought on launch, or new in general was Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, anything else I buy is usually pre-owned. I gt financial aid do I don't have to worry about paying for College(I commute). However, I quit the only job I had, due to the fact that I absolutely hated it(being a salesman sucks), so the only time I can make money is though recycling cans and odd jobs.

i get financial aid too, it's a huge help. I usually get around $300 on my refund.

Still using money from graduation (stingy >.>). Other than that I sell games I don't play anymore as long as they fetch a reasonable price. So I don't buy games very often, as you can tell, but when I do it's usually one or two at the most.

I need a job. ;_;

At the moment I have a $100 monthly phone bill and I'm saving up for a vehicle. That puts a bit of a restriction on high priced items like game system, but games/movies/music/clothes are fair game.

I currently make a living as a cashier, I still live at home at age 18, and have no plans for college.

I haven't bought a game in almost 2 years now. As of recent though, I do have a semi-job, babysitting my sister's nieces while she works 48 hours a week. 25 bucks a week isn't too bad, but right now, she's having money problems, so I've gotten nothing this month. I'm gonna end up being owed 100 bucks. I'm seriously thinking about Gamefly...have been for a while. That much I can afford.

I either buy pre-owned games or just get games as gifts.

Zero lives at home with no bills other than a car payment and works a pretty decent job while his parents pay for college. Life is good.

I never buy new. Just gamestop, get some popular games from 2 or 3 years ago, and bam! 20 bucks. Also, I get like 35 bucks a month still... 20 a week during the summer for yard work... Lots of yard work.

Last few full price (60 $) games I bought were:

NHL 12: Sept 2011
Sonic & Sega Racing: Summer 2010
Left 4 Dead 2: 2 or 3 christmas' ago
