Question about SNES cartridge types

Hello, first poster here. I just bought a Super Nintendo in excellent condition and am now seeking to build a collection of most of the top rated games. During my search I have found that some of the cartridges are different looking than others, even among the same titles. The first is the cartridge type I am familiar with, that has a large cutout on the bottom. The second one almost looks like a Super Famicom or PAL type cartridge, and is mostly solid except for a rectangular type hole in the middle of the cartridge. Both are American carts but I was curious if there was any difference between the two? I would post images but I can't since I haven't been a member for 15 days yet. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

What are the titles of the games? There were a few bootleg SNES games.

Can't remember all of them, but there were a lot. I don't think these were bootleg though. If you do a google search for "super mario world snes", the first picture of a cartridge you see (on the second row of pics) is the Famicom/PAL type looking one I am talking about.

I'm not entirely sure why there are different shapes but they are both American cartridges and they both work identically, just different molds for the plastic used by different manufacturers i guess.
