Question So Many Ants...

So I'm playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for Xbox 360, having a grand old time. Suddenly, the screen turns to black. The Xbox starts to sound like a tractor. I look over to it. It's the Red Ring of Death. I swiftly turn off the Xbox and unplug the power cords. But then I notice something: the Xbox wasn't hot. Barely warm, even...
Nevertheless, I pick it up and take it outside to ventilate it. As I make my way through the living room, my arms start to become itchy at the same time. I look down.

Ants.

Thousands and thousands of huge, orange ants are pouring from every ventilation hole in the Xbox, like a volcano of insects erupting over my arms. I hastily rush outside and put the Xbox on the grass, shaking the miniature beasts off me as if I was in an epileptic rave party. For hours, I shook and sprayed my Xbox, getting every last ant and egg out of it, showing no mercy. At that point, I didn't care all too much that my Xbox might break if I shake and spray it too much. All I wanted was the absence of ants.

Thankfully, after a very long two days, the ants are (hopefully) gone. The Xbox works fine, but the Bad Company 2 disc is scratched beyond repair. Oh well. Time to get Battlefield 3.

So anyway, I was hoping you people could try to help me understand why my Xbox 360 was infested with thousands upon thousands of ants.

That's actually very interesting. Maybe they liked it 'cuz its warm, and didn't require any work to inhabit it. You're just lucky they didn't chew through any wires.

This happened to Playstation 1 back in the day. It still worked even though it was full of ants, oddly. I sent it to Sony, and they fixed/replaced it. I opened it up about a year ago and discovered that parts had been ducked taped in. Oh, Sony.

One of my friends had roaches inside of his PS3 a while back. It's a conspiracy I tell you.

Your in aussie, insects in your house should be an everyday thing by now. I'm not entirely sure why it decided to crawl into your xbox but it probably decided to stay because the ants love the dry, hot atmosphere. If you have an older xbox (aka not a slim) i would reccomend taking the shell off just to make sure you have none of the little pests lingering.

Tis a bugs life.

Weird story. Reminds me of the time my dad went to fix a family friend's computer because it had a 'bug', when it was in fact a spider crawling in the computers insides.

I have ants living in my gas fireplace every year... we tried roasting them out, bait traps, hired an exterminator and all sorts, but they just come back all the time. They must just like the heat.
