When was Nintendo at their peak?

Simple question, when was Nintendo at their peak, game production wise?

I'd argue that Nintendo were at their peak during the 1994-1996 late SNES period, starting at Donkey Kong Country and ending at Super Mario 64. A lot of the best games Nintendo made came out during the 16-bit "renaissance" that happened when the Genesis started waning and the SNES got a lot of awesome titles, like Super Mario World 2, Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid, Earthbound and the Donkey Kong trilogy. Meanwhile, the handheld market was revitalized by Pokemon in Japan. In my opinion, this golden period continued well into the life cycle of the Nintendo 64, but more sporadically: the true end of this concentrated level of genius is the release of Miyamoto's opus, Super Mario 64, that ushered in the 3D era.

I don't think anyone is going to argue with that.

SNES, N64, and GC were all awesome, so no idea, but probably more so around the N64/Snes times.

Edit: that is if this is an opinionated thread, and not a factual one.

I enjoyed there consoles the most with the Gamecube, but I think their biggest success was during the SNES era, imo

Bryaugh will become famous soon enough

Mm... for single player games I think the Gamecube, for multiplayer games probably the NES and the SNES. I only had a NES and a Game Boy until I got my Wii though and played everything else fairly recently on emulators, so my opinion is massively biased.

I too was immensely satisfied with GameCube games, but I'd also have to say that the SNES era was likely when Nintendo was at its finest, if not then with the NES.

During the super nintendo era, the console was clearly up-to-date in terms of graphics and gameplay.

You know the Gamecube had more RAM, processing, and handled complex lighting better than the xbox and PS2, right? Gamecube had the best graphics of last gen. The Wii is where they fell behind graphically.
