Zelda timeline possibly confirmed

Quote:
Since the series began, Nintendo has been coy on whether there's an official timeline for The Legend of Zelda. They've said there is one, locked away in Nintendo HQ, but the fact it's never been shared - and that each game seems so wildly different from the rest - has long clouded the topic. Until now. Maybe.
Nintendo's new Zelda art book is already finding its way into the hands of Joe Public, and inside is a Zelda timeline. For real. In an official Nintendo product.
And, according to one such person posting online (and helpfully translated by reader littsu), it reads like this. Note that the "split" is due to Ocarina's time differences and assumptions based on the different ways that story could have ended and branched off from his two ages: the Link to the Past split is Link failing, the Majora's split is Link defeating Ganon and branching off from his boyhood and the Wind Waker split is Link defeating Ganon and branching from his older years.
So, yeah, that suggests not only alternate universes, but two parallel universes spinning off the same single outcome.
Be warned: there may be errors, given the nature of the transcribing, and Nintendo may later own up and say this isn't the super-secret official timeline they've been guarding with their lives for decades. This may be just an "interpretation". Or something. Got that? OK, read on!
Source: Kotaku

I'm suprised someone hasn't brought this up on here yet. I think this version of the timeline is quite clever and I dont have any qualms with it. However I wouldn't call myself a ravid zelda fan that knows all the ins and outs of all the games so I'm interested to hear anyones opinions about it. After lurking a few message boards and comment sections it seems that some people don't agree with it.

At this stage it is not known if it is 100% accurate, but to me it seems pretty legit.

Oh and here is a flow chart so you can see that order clearly :

Even if it is real, Link failing shouldn't be a timeline.

Link doesn't fail.

A bit odd, I'll admit, but it seems rather concrete...

Well there we go. Might make a video, but the image probably just speaks for itself. The whole 'Link failing' thing is just speculation, I think. The source says it was 'assumed', so I'm not sure about the validity.

The only thing that confuses me is the Picori. They appear as some legendary, acient force, aiding Hyrule's quest for peace - but only for one game. Never got that, but everything else seems fine.

Why is it unfathomable for Link to fail? He's just a person. Also, Miyamoto created Link and can make him do whatever he damn well pleases. When I make a character for my stories, he does what I want him to do. If you don't particularly like something he does then that's a personal problem. I see no issue with Link failing once..

Yeah, I have a feeling there is something more to it than just failing, that was probably lost in translation. But we will see...

How do you figure? It's just as logical as any fanmade timeline, and this is apparently sanctioned by Nintendo.

And once you get past the whole 'Link is Defeated by Ganon' thing, it makes a hell of a lot of sense. ALttP's Imprisoning War is one thing that is never explained in full detail, and this offers up a good explanation as to why it happened and where ALttP sits in the timeline.

I agree with it. When I first read it, I didn't like it. Once I started thinking it through, it made pretty good sense.
