Brett Favre no longer at GB

Well...im sure most of you heard that Brett Favre, one of the best Quarterbacks in the NFL was traded to the New York Jets.

What do you think about this? Is it good/bad for GB or the Jets?

Well, I live in Wisconsin, so im a Green Bay Packer fan all the way. When Favre retired, i was sad. But it was time to move on with our New Quarter back, Aaron Rodgers (who has been sitting on the bench for 2+ years while Favre played).
But then Favre got the itch to play Pro football again. So there was a big dispute on where he should go or stay at GB. I dont think he wanted to stay at GB. So he made it seem like the GB packers orgainization didnt want him, therefore Favre getting good media. Coach Mike McCarthy wanted to have tryouts for the starting Quarterback position. But im sure Favre WASNT going to do THAT. He either wanted starting QB position, or wanted a different team. So, he got traded to the Jets. And in the trade, it was made sure that Favre would not be in the same division as GB (NFC North). So if the Jets ever trade him to the Vikeings or Bears, then GB will get a BIG hand in the upcomming Draft.

I think that the best thing happened for all parties. GB gets to start a new era with Rodgers. Favre gets to play football (thats all he wanted to do) and the Jets get a great QB, which should help them ALOT.
Ofcourse Favre will be missed by GB Packer fans, but these things just happen.

Well, it totally made Madden 09 look retarded.

Seriously, though, Brett Farve is nothing special as far as football is concerned. I do admit that the Packers are a good team, but he didn't bring anything great to the table. It's good, though, that he fought to do what he loved. I mean, I wish him the best of luck with New York, and I look forward to seeing him play.

Farve is a legend. He is one of the few football greats left. I think the packers will not be the same team without him. He will definately help the jets. Which I can't stand.

I think both sides are to blame. But either way, I get to see Farve play some more. He should of just retired with class.

Cool

Dude, have been waiting for a thread about this topic to
come up for a long time....

Marvman thinks that GB messed up by letting him go.

He should of stayed and retired a Packer (even though we all know
that GB wasn't his first team; kudos if ya know who drafted him).

He was beloved there, his family is there, and his heart is there.
Can't see Favre; honestly; in another unifrom, or in another patch
of green.

But he wanted to start, and Marvman bets that Aaron Rodgers (Cal QB)
was just tired of waiting ans sitting on the bench. But that kid sure shows some promise...He has some big shoes to fill. But the defense will help him out, and so will Donald Driver and Co. Not sure if their running game was a fluke last year. Playoff potential.

The Jets on the other hand...they get real old at the leadership position.
Dumping Chad Pennington for 40 year old Favre?
Who might stick around for a tops; 3 years....
They must REALLY REALLY want to win badly NOW; AT THIS MOMENT.
Eric Mangenious, needs to get aquainted with Favre tendence's and flair to "wing it" on audibles...Favre has always been a "gun-slinger".
And will probably do the same on the Jets....although...
they are in need of a dominant blocking/recieving TE...Bubba Franks was an extra Pas Blocker for Favre.

So let us see. Marvman would of prefered he stayed on GB, or moved to the Vikes...(they stink at the position).

Let us see how the rest of preseason goes.

NFL starts Sept.

Rockn.

BTW, what is Marvman gonna do with the cover of the new Madden 09 game???
Perhaps downloading the patch, and the modified cover from EA might do the trick.

wasnt Favre on the Falcons before GB? I think so.

And i didnt know you knew so much about the Packers Marvman. You must be a sports whiz.

Favre is one of the Best in the NFL. He broke records. He will be missed.
I do think he should have stayed retired. But he wanted to play. Were the Packers just gonna kick Rodgers out of starting position. Thats when the competition for QB position came up. But i think by that time, Favre knew he was done with GB...
And Chad Pennington was a decent QB. But like you said, it seems the Jets just want to win, and are not looking into the Future.

He kind of acted like a baby towards the end. Lost a bit of respect for him for that. But could have to do with Packer management
