I like the books a lot. I thought the movie was a well-done film on the whole but was pretty mediocre as an adaption of the book. Like, why in the world was Seneca Crane a major character? And why was the 50-page struggle for water reduced to two seconds? I expected them to try and tastefully cut the training section, which I thought lasted way too long personally. I think they could have managed time better, in any case.

I haven't seen it, but everyone keeps going on about how good it is. I don't plan to watch it anyway.

From what ive heard, the books were poorly written but had good stories, and the movie was "pretty good". I'm not one to judge, but these books seem like people just grasping for a replacement for a book to movie series after harry potter has left.

I agree with that sentiment. I don't get it being the next big book-to-movie series after Harry Potter. I mean sure, it looks good, but nowhere near as good as what Harry Potter was.

Oh I know what you mean, the last book was definitely lacking. I didn't know how a book could be exciting and boring at the same time until I read it.

Um? The Lightning Thief movie was terrible. It lacked so much content.

Anyways, I read the first book a couple months ago. Not my favorite genre of fiction, but it's alright.
